We all have had a horrible year and at last, it is over. This is my first blog of 2021, and I want to start with something good and positive. It is time we get rid of our negative shell and start to accept the new way of life. Some simple routine changes and a pinch of motivation will help you make your day much better than it has been till now. So let’s see what we can do to make ourselves happy and gain back the positivity that we all need to fight against the pandemic that is still prevailing-
· A Clean Room And A Clean Bed-
Make your bed every morning before you start working. A nicely made bed elevates the mood. A cleanroom will fill you up with positivity. Make this a habit and you will cherish it lifelong. You can put some potpourri in your room and attach a wind chime to your window. These small changes will make you feel so different than what you have felt in the last year.
· Take Life Seriously.
We have very little time on this earth and that can also reduce if pandemics like these strike again and again, which it will. Because let's all agree that we have ruined the planet and hence we need to face the consequences. So, whatever you do in your life, do that seriously. If you think you want to start a new hobby then do it now, we don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow.
· Go Outdoors
Spend an hour of the day out in the open air. No, I am not saying you to go out on the street, but you can go to your porch or your balcony, and when you are there take a deep breath and let go of all the thoughts that have been bugging you. It is not necessary to follow one definite time; you can even do it at midnight if you are awake.
· Start Reading
Now, people who are already into books, like me, I don’t need to tell them what reading can do to your mind. However, people who say “No I don’t like reading books” well, you should. Reading expands your thought process and relaxes your eyes. The whole day we are either working from home or binging on Netflix. Adapting reading will prove to be one of the best decisions you have made in your life. Let me give you a little tip, you don’t have to read books that are meant for adults, if you are a beginner, start with a kids' fairytale. It is easy to read and when the story will end with “and they lived happily ever after” it is going to make you smile for sure.
· Love Yourself-
This is the most important point. Now, I know you have heard this before also. However, the reason I am telling you that this is most important at this time is because the one thing that I learned from the pandemic is that we can die any day. Today we are alive but tomorrow we may not be and hating yourself for the whole life will be the biggest regret then. So, go in front of a mirror and take off all your clothes and rather than pointing out flaws in yourself, point out the beauty that you are. Loving yourself does not come only within the heart; it should come from every pore and cell of your body. So rather than comparing yourself with others, embrace your magnificence and say it out loud “I love myself, more than anything in this world.” You will see how this small act can remove so many burdens from your shoulder.
· Meditate-
In the above point, I described how to embrace your body; in this point, I am going to focus on how to embrace your soul. There are so many thoughts rummaging inside our heads that sometimes we lose our identity and try to avoid those thoughts. However, these thoughts get deposited in your subconscious and can lead to serious mental disorders. Meditating for just 15 minutes a day will help you to sort these out and lead a better life.
· Avoid The News-
I have been avoiding watching the news for 4 months now. I get my dose of current affairs by just quickly reading the important headlines. In news channels and papers there was negativity before also but now the amount has increased and the more you see those, the more you make your mind stressed and that is the one factor that will hinder your personal growth.
There are many other things to do, but the above ones are most crucial (telling from my own experiences). Yes; it did not happen in one day, it does take time, but sometimes, change is good and this pandemic has nudged my motivation to make the change and I know it is the same for you guys too. Always remember, one step at a time, makes life worth living.
