Weight Loss: Myths and Facts

With society increasing their quotient of “being beautiful,” people are inclining more towards getting a summer body all year long and hence are searching the internet more and more for the trendiest weight loss plans. Thousands of applications are found in the Play Store, which focuses only on the weight loss regime of a person. Social media handles like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are flooded with celebrities flexing their bodies in a way which not possible by many.

But what is the internet not telling you? Let’s look down on some myths related to weight loss.

Myth: Getting slim is the only way to be beautiful

Fact: Getting slim or thin should not be the focus at all. The mantra is “fat to fit.” The main focus should be to control obesity and that too, not for the outer world but for yourself because obesity can lead to many diseases and cause damage to the body.

Myth: Celebrity diets should always work; they do have very nice figures.

Fact: Nowadays, many celebrity diets have gone viral like the Keto diet, The Atkins Diet, etc. but do you know that all of them go and consult with a proper nutritionist about what kind of diet is actually good for their health and their body type. All diets don’t suit everyone. If you suddenly get excited about Keto Diet and start doing it without knowing whether it is actually good for your body, then be prepared to welcome the disastrous Keto Flu. Diet should always be done after proper consultation.

Myth: You should fully cut away carbs and fats.

Fact: Carbs and fats give the body energy to work. If you cut that away completely, you won’t even be having the energy to work out.

Myth: Eat a lesser amount of food, and work out more often

Fact: When you work out, your body starts burning calories, and if you don’t have a proper healthy diet, then your body will probably collapse since it is getting no calories to burn. And calories can come from all types of food sources. You just have to know what to eat and when.

Myth: Having breakfast every day will help in weight loss

Fact: Studies have shown that breakfast has no evident effects on weight loss. Having proper portions of food at proper timings is what matters the most.

In the end, never follow the track of anyone else. Your body is different from all the others. Take a proper consultation for weight loss, exercise, and eat properly, and when you are feeling low, just give your body what it needs; a cheat day.
